The Ph.D. programme in Slavic Literatures at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague focuses on research in Slavic literatures as an integral part of European literature and culture. The doctoral programme, which builds upon the respective Master’s programmes in East, South East and Central European literatures, places particular emphasis on their intercultural aspects, especially with regard to their communication with non-Slavic cultures and literatures.

Other areas explored by the programme include the literary reflection of historical experience, traumas and cultural memory of Slavic cultures in the context of political and ideological manipulations in the 20th century, and different forms of postcolonial (global) perspectives of the world in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Besides, the programme covers the scientific context of particular national literatures, explored from the analytical perspectives of European scientific approach.
